About Christina Orjalo
Christina (she/her) is a multidisciplinary, multiracial Toronto-based artist. Since first stepping on set in 2005, her deep love for performing has amounted to nearly two decades of experience in film and television. Christina also carries a passion for classical, contemporary and musical theatre. A graduate of the University of Toronto and Sheridan College’s Theatre and Drama Studies program, Christina holds an Advanced Diploma in Professional Acting Technique and an Honours Bachelor of Arts.
Selected credits include: Astrid and Lilly Save the World (SYFY), Two Sentence Horror Stories (The CW), Murdoch Mysteries (Shaftesbury) and The Big Comfy Couch (Treehouse TV). Select theatre credits include: MH370 and Digital Connections (fu-GEN Theatre), Kumustahan 2020 and The Disconnect(ed) Project (Carlos Bulosan Theatre). In her free time, you’ll likely find Christina coercing her sister Marissa into helping her with a self-tape, longboarding, or playing with her cat Lucy.
What Inspired you to pursue acting?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve lived for the energy that comes from performing for others. Whether it was making my family cry tears of laughter at the dinner table, creating outrageous characters in the car or recreating bits of my favourite films, I’ve always loved the rush of making others feel something – joy, laughter, confusion, shock, distress. The older I get, the more fascinated I’ve become with the human condition. I’ve been fortunate to have a wonderful support system over the years who’ve encouraged me to continue my pursuit of connecting with others and for that I’m very grateful.
What is your dream role?
I have a deep love for all things camp, comedy and the absurd. Anything big, fun or expressive, sign me up! At the moment, I really want to explore some compelling and over-the-top female rage… Mia Goth as Pearl in 2022 comes to mind!
