About Daniella Dela Peña
Daniella Dela Peña is an actress, singer, multifaceted teacher and full-time dreamer. Figuratively, DDP is a one-woman mariachi band with a plethora of interests within the entertainment industry. Whether she is on camera, on stage or behind the scenes, Dela Peña strives to inspire children and FIlipinx-Canadians to discover their artistic potential. Recently, she has done so through her ‘Artista For A Day’ workshop at Pinoys on Parliament 2024.
She is best-known for her work on the gay vampire series Ezra as Gwen Garcia, a Filipina goth-girl-gone-trendy, now streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Daniella has also starred in commercials for Hyundai, Best Buy, Jollibee and more. But at the end of the day, she’s just a girl who loves the colour pink and her dog, Nala.
What Inspired you to pursue acting?
I’ve always been inspired by actors, and I believe there’s a HUGE importance in the act of ‘watching and learning.’ I was just watching an interview where Zendaya shared how she would go to set not to work, but to learn. It made me think of how I encourage my students to watch their fellow students for inspiration. I also think of how cool it is to see young actors on screen and how they can make people feel so many different emotions. There’s a spark of hope ignited within me when I see people do what they love. I could go on and on, but to its core, what inspired me (and still inspires me to this day) is the genuine passion of actors that makes a lasting impact.
What is your dream role?
I have a couple in mind:
– Rapunzel in a live action film OR staged musical of Tangled
– Kimberly Levaco from Kimberly Akimbo
– The voice of a new Disney princess
– Any kind of coming-of-age story similar to The Princess Diaries or The Devil Wears Prada (or maybe anything to do with Anne Hathaway)
